From St. Paul's to the Wild: Inspiring Students to Explore Careers in Wildlife."
As part of its commitment to broadening students' career perspectives, St. Paul High School, Dadar, organised a Career Guidance Session titled "From St. Paul's to the Wild: Inspiring Students to Explore Careers in Wildlife" for the students of Std. IX and X on 18 July 2026.
The session was conducted by Mr. Kapil Sharma, a distinguished alumnus of the school, renowned wildlife photographer, Sony Alpha Mentor, expedition leader, and Founder of Savera Safaris. Returning to his alma mater eleven years after graduating from Class X, Mr. Sharma shared his inspiring journey of transforming his passion for wildlife into a successful profession through curiosity, perseverance, continuous learning, and field experience.
Using stunning wildlife photographs and personal experiences, he highlighted the importance of wildlife conservation and introduced students to the diverse career opportunities available in the field, including wildlife photography, conservation, research, forestry, environmental science, naturalist programmes, expedition leadership, visual storytelling, and wildlife tourism. He emphasised that success in this field requires patience, discipline, courage, ethical responsibility, and unwavering commitment.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in polls and a lively question-and-answer session. Mr. Sharma encouraged them to remain curious, pursue their interests with dedication, and recognise that meaningful careers are built through consistent effort rather than having every aspect of the future planned at a young age.
Concluding the session, he left the students with a memorable thought: "Marks may open doors. Curiosity decides how far you walk after that."
Principal Rev. Fr. Victor Bandya thanked Mr. Sharma for returning to his alma mater to inspire the students and broaden their understanding of the exciting career opportunities in wildlife and environmental conservation.
The session proved to be an enriching experience, motivating students to explore their passions while developing a deeper appreciation for nature and environmental stewardship
